Position Title: Director, Clinical Performance and Evaluation, Vision Loss Rehabilitation Canada
Reports To: VP, Service Quality and Health Standards
Date: March 7 2022
I. Scope and Summary of Primary Responsibilities
Reporting to the Vice President, Service Quality and Health Standards, this position is responsible for providing oversight of Vision Loss Rehabilitation’s approach to evaluating the effectiveness and outcomes of our health services. The position will conduct qualitative and quantitative assessments of both new and established health services and develop recommendations for quality assurance measures. Working in cooperation with the Health Operations team, the position will also provide input for standards of practice and process improvements, with the objective of promoting client service outcomes.
Working with a Quality and Standards team, the position will have broad involvement with supporting business requirements, data governance, compliance with internal and external standards, service reporting and analytics, training, and privacy.
II. Accountabilities
- Provides leadership in the development of evaluative methodology and instruments applied to VLRC health and rehabilitation services.
- Leads special projects and conduct studies which add to VLRC’s knowledge of the impact and outcomes of services.
- Assures all projects and strategic initiatives pertaining to clinical performance are on track and benchmarks are met.
- Prepares evaluative reports, briefing documents, analysis and recommendations for executive management and other audiences.
- Conducts literature reviews and monitors industry research in the field of vision-loss health and rehabilitation.
- Applies knowledge to practice and transfers learning to operational management.
- Supports program development activity through the creation of evaluative frameworks and logic models.
- Builds and manages reports and dashboards for ongoing monitoring of service outcomes.
- Works cross-functionally between Executive Leadership team, operational managers, and business supports.
- Leads efforts to promote a culture of continuous improvement and quality assurance, in keeping with VLRC’s commitment to service excellence.
IV. Qualifications
Knowledge and Skill Requirements:
- Experience with both quantitative and qualitative research methods, survey and assessment design.
- Excellent verbal and written communications.
- Experience tracking key deliverables and following up on outstanding items.
- Demonstrated capacity of translating ideas into action
- Exceptional skills in the areas of interpersonal interactions, professional discretion, confidentiality, and accountability.
- High degree of initiative and strategic problem solving.
- Ability to initiate, develop, coordinate, organize, plan and follow-through with projects.
- Highly organized multi-tasker who can manage competing priorities
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills with good persuasive abilities, tact and discretion and ability to effectively build relationships.
- Demonstrated strong initiative and motivation skills, as well as the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Track record for maintaining professional network of clinical experts and stay current with industry trends and transformations.
Experience and Education
- Relevant post-secondary education (bachelor’s degree minimum) with at least 3-5 years of experience supporting and interacting with executive leadership.
- Canadian Evaluation designation.
- Personal or professional experience relating to blindness and vision loss is considered an asset.
- Sound knowledge of the not-for-profit, healthcare and community health sectors.
Work Environment
- Work is primarily performed in a hybrid office environment, with occasional business travel required.
- Willingness to work flexible hours to accommodate periods of significant pressure, as appropriate.
