Board and strategic leadership council opportunities

Through their “Stronger Together” partnership, Vision Loss Rehabilitation Canada (VLRC) is proud to work cooperatively with its partner organizations, CNIB and CNIB Deafblind Community Services (DBCS), as we band together to level the playing field for Canadians who are blind, partially sighted, and Deafblind.

With new strategic directions and ambitions, each organization is seeking a diverse range of outstanding business and community leaders for multiple 2023 board and strategic leadership council appointments.

  • Vision Loss Rehabilitation Canada (VLRC) is a national health care organization and the leading provider of rehabilitation therapy and health care services for Canadians who are blind, partially sighted, and Deafblind. The organization is seeking Board of Directors members who understand the strategies required to ensure crucial health care services remain adequately and sustainably supported by governments and the medical community across Canada. These individuals bring expertise in health care, life sciences, education, finance, law, risk management, governance, labour/workforce development, digital innovation, marketing, and advocacy, among other key desired skillsets.
  • CNIB amplifies the voices of Canadians who are blind, partially sighted, or Deafblind and supports these individuals to live the lives they choose through innovative programs and powerful advocacy. CNIB is seeking members for its national Board of Directors who are senior business and community leaders with expertise in strategy, governance, finance, enterprise risk management, compliance, legal, advocacy and government relations, mergers and acquisitions, digital technology, cyber security, and national fundraising. The non-profit is also seeking members for its Strategic Leadership Councils – located in every province – to help bring CNIB’s strategic plan to life from coast to coast to coast. Ideal candidates are influential business and community leaders with experience developing and implementing provincial advocacy and fundraising strategies, and whose networks can join them to locally champion CNIB’s mission in their provinces.
  • CNIB Deafblind Community Services (DBCS) is Canada’s leading provider of specialized support and emergency services for people who are Deafblind, enabling them to maximize their independence and engagement with the world around them. DBCS is seeking Board of Directors members who are passionate about supporting the critical needs of individuals with multi-sensory disabilities, and who have experience in health care, social support, sensory disabilities, gerontology, law, government relations, policy, and/or marketing.
