Position Title: Administrative Assistant, Summer Student

Reports to: General Manager, Eye Van

Term: 9-week Contract, May 30-July 29, 2022  

Location: Sudbury, On

I. Scope and Summary of Primary Responsibilities

The Medical Mobile Eye Care Unit (Eye Van) has an exciting Canada Summer Jobs opportunity. This opportunity is proudly supported by the Government of Canada Employment and Social Development.

Under the general supervision of the General Manager, the Eye Van, Administrative Assistant will support the community outreach deliverables for the Eye Van program.  The main responsibilities of this role include assisting with the 2022 Eye Van Tour by responding and developing communications related to general inquiries.

II. Essential Functions

This position entails, but is not limited to the following:

General Responsibilities:

  • Provide ongoing support to the General Manager to review and update communications and documents for the program.
  • Collaborates with Eye Van Team to review Covid-19 screening requirements, updates, and provide information as required.
  • Communicates with communities regarding the Eye Van Tour and inquiries related to Covid-19 screening and processes.
  • Updates Eye Van communication lists and research patient demographics information and ensures all information is up to date.
  • Supports inquires from stakeholders, patients, and internal sources.
  • Supports Eye Van 50th Anniversary activities.

III. Qualifications

Knowledge and Skill Requirements:

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, and other software applications.
  • Mature and professional attitude.
  • Self-directed, organized, and excellent attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated individual centred approach and commitment.
  • Must be able to travel independently via public transit or car (taxi, Uber, etc.) when necessary.
  • French language skills an asset.

Experience and Education:

    • Administrative and/or not-for-profit experience an asset
    • University/college Students enrolled in a health science, administration and communication program or an equivalent combination of education, training, and expertise. 

Work Environment:

  • Both Virtual and In-person work
  • Willingness to work flexible hours
