Position: Coordinator, Employee Engagement and Operations
Location: Toronto or any office within Ontario
Reports To: Executive Director, Healthcare Operations ON
Date: February 23, 2022
- Scope and Summary of Primary Responsibilities
Under the direction of the Executive Director, Healthcare Operation, the Coordinator, Employee Engagement and Operations will be responsible to support and drive employee engagement and a positive culture. In addition, generate a talent pool to support Vision Loss Rehabilitation Canada’s (VLRC’s) expansion and development.
- Essential Functions
The position entails, but is not limited to, the following responsibilities:
- Create a talent pipeline through outreach and recruitment
- Build the VLRC team by attracting future talents through social media, student placements, and co-ops with community partners
- Develop and administer up-to-date onboarding materials and processes within VLRC
- Maintain a supportive relationship with new staff during onboarding process and their first year of employment
- Develop a staff ‘buddy’ program for implementation during onboarding
- Design and develop appropriate training courses on VLRC University that align with the diverse needs of the organization and result in increased effectiveness and engagement of staff
- In collaboration with P&C, develop and foster a positive employee culture.
- Support staff with required continuing education schedules and professional development.
- Collaborate with educational institutions, community partners and professional associations.
- Establish and maintain relationships with health care providers and internal professional practice leads.
- Collaborate with managers to identify talent gaps and develop employee-focused strategies and best practices that support individuals’ professional growth and organizational development.
- Support VLRC employee recognition program and health and wellness program.
- Work with VLRC management team to successfully roll out internal and external professional development programs and training.
- Work closely with VLRC managers to continue to support and improve staff engagement.
Relationships
- Cultivate relationships with external professionals and community partners to proactively build a qualified talent pipeline.
- Serve as ambassador for the organization in outreach to potential candidates.
- Provide creative solutions to internal and external challenges with consideration and professionalism
Leadership
- Initiative to keep abreast of latest trends and practices, providing recommendations that conform to VLRC processes.
- Facilitates and enhances team efforts on a professional level; shares specialized knowledge, sources, experience, concepts, and skills.
- Qualifications
Knowledge and Skill Requirements
- Experience with recruitment and development of specialized roles in the social services or health care sector.
- 3-5 years’ experience in internal communications.
- Must have strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze, problem solve, stay organized and manage multiple assignments.
- Strong attention to detail, with the ability to maintain and ensure accuracy.
- Ability to work effectively both individually, and in a collaborative team setting.
- Ability to measure their own effectiveness and demonstrate value.
Experience and Education
- Diploma or Degree in Human Resource or equivalent
- CPHR designation / candidate
- Recruiting / onboarding/ talent development experience
Work Environment
- Willingness to work flexible hours
- Ability to work in an agile office
- Some travel may be required
